Florence – Middle East Now festival is starting: from tonight until 9 April, the contemporary Middle East is on the spot in Florence with a full program of films, exhibitions, music, food, guests and special events.
OPENING NIGHT: Tuesday April 4 (9pm) at Cinema La Compagnia, the opening film is “Last Men in Aleppo”, the acclaimed and award winning documentary by Feras Fayyad (Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, Best Film at CPH:DOX) that brings the audience to Aleppo in Syria, alongside the “White Helmets”, the corps of volunteers on the front line since the beginning of this tragic war; on the screen also the short film “City As Art” by the young Iranian director Aliyar Rasti. Special guest of the opening the French-Lebanese musician Bachar Mar-Khalifè with an enchanting piano solo performance, in collaboration with Institut Français Florence.
